TIMELINE

2008, design internship at JUXT Interactive

TEAM & ROLE

Design intern working closely with an Art Director, Creative Director, Project Manager, and development team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Helped define the site's visual look and feel. Designed page layouts and worked with developers to bring the approved designs to life.

KEY RESULTS

Delivered a clean, modern website for a new product launch. kept a consistent visual style across all pages and helped the team ship on a fast moving timeline.

01 BACKGROUND

In 2008, I was a design intern at JUXT Interactive in Southern California. FLO TV was a brand new mobile television technology that let people watch live TV on their phones without Wi-Fi. The website needed to introduce the product and make the technology feel approachable to everyday consumers.

02 PROBLEM STATEMENT

FLO TV was a new product and potential customers had no idea what it was. The website needed to explain a complex technology in a clear, visual way and stay consistent across every page. My job was to turn creative direction into production ready designs that developers could build.

03 PROJECT GOAL

Design and deliver clean, consistent web pages that matched the approved look and feel and were ready for development, while helping FLO TV build credibility as a brand new product.

05 DESIGN PROCESS

I worked with the Art Director and Creative Director to explore the brand, designed page layouts through multiple revisions, and focused on keeping the visual system consistent across every page

DISCOVERY & REDIRECTION

Worked with the Art Director and Creative Director to understand the brand, the product, and the tone we were going for.

EXPLORATION & LAYOUT DESIGN

Designed page layouts through multiple rounds of revisions, sharpening what was working and refining what was not.

DESIGN DECISION

Focused on keeping spacing, type hierarchy, and color consistent so every page felt part of the same visual system.

05 CHALLENGES

The project moved fast with a lot of revisions and a tight timeline. Staying consistent under pressure was the biggest challenge. Balancing my learning curve with the team's expectations pushed me to level up quickly.

06 FINAL OUTCOME

This project taught me how to take design direction and turn it into something functional and elegant. It sounds simple, but there is real skill in translating a creative brief into page layouts that actually work for users. I also learned the value of staying consistent, especially when things are moving fast. Good design isn't just about individual pages. It's about the whole experience feeling cohesive. If I could go back, I would have asked more questions earlier in the process about the user and what they needed from each page. I was focused on the visual layer, which was the job, but thinking more about user intent would have made the layouts even stronger. This project taught me how to turn creative direction into clean, functional design decisions. It was fun and rewarding work that made me want to keep focusing on design.

RESULTS

The team delivered a polished website that introduced FLO TV clearly and confidently to users. The site stayed consistent across all pages and matched the brand's tech forward identity well.

LESSONS

The visual direction came together in a way that felt genuinely elevated. The site looked and felt completely different from where it started. Simplifying the navigation was also a real win, giving users clearer, more intuitive paths through the experience.

NEXT STEPS

This project sharpened my ability to design under pressure and deliver polished work fast. It reinforced that taking initiative and bringing your own ideas to the table matters just as much as executing what's asked of you.
